🚢 Double Cruise Ship Day Coming to Saint John

Saturday, September 5, 2026, is shaping up to be a busy day on the Saint John waterfront as two cruise ships are scheduled to visit the Port of Saint John.

The AIDAdiva and Sapphire Princess are both scheduled to be in Saint John on Saturday, bringing thousands of cruise passengers and crew to the city.

🛳️ Two Ships, One Busy Waterfront

According to published cruise schedules:

🕘 Arrival: 9:00 a.m.
🕖 Departure: 7:00 p.m.
👥 Scheduled passengers: approximately 2,680

AIDAdiva
🕚 Arrival: 11:00 a.m.
🕗 Departure: 8:00 p.m.
👥 Scheduled passengers: approximately 2,030

Together, the two ships represent a scheduled passenger capacity of more than 4,700 people, before counting crew.

🌊 A Great Day for the Saint John Waterfront

With both ships in port for much of the afternoon, visitors can expect plenty of activity around the waterfront, Uptown Saint John and local attractions.

Cruise passengers will have an opportunity to explore some of the city’s best-known sights, including the historic Uptown area, the Reversing Falls area, local shops and restaurants, and the spectacular Bay of Fundy.

For local residents, a double-ship day also means an excellent opportunity to enjoy the harbour and watch the impressive vessels arrive and depart.

September is one of the most attractive times of year for cruise ships visiting Saint John. The changing light, the harbour, historic buildings and the Bay of Fundy make for some great photography.

The staggered arrival times should also provide several opportunities to watch the ships coming into port.

September is traditionally an important part of Saint John’s cruise season, and the 2026 schedule shows several multiple-ship days throughout the month. September 5 is one of the early highlights, with the AIDAdiva and Sapphire Princess scheduled together.

New Brunswick’s latest weekly price adjustment puts regular gasoline at a maximum of $1.90/L, unchanged. Diesel increased 7 cents to $2.54/L, while furnace oil rose 7 cents to $2.47/L.

  • Avalon Peninsula, Newfoundland: 30–50 mm

🌾 Atlantic Farmers Recovering From Last Year’s Drought

Farmers throughout the Maritimes are reporting a better growing season after the severe drought of 2025.

Timely rainfall has helped crops recover, although some farmers are still seeing the effects of last year’s extreme heat and lack of moisture.

Agriculture Canada reported severe drought conditions in parts of Nova Scotia, eastern Newfoundland, southeastern New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island last August.

This year’s rainfall has provided welcome relief for many growers, including vegetable, berry and pumpkin producers.

💰 Gaming Corporations Face FINTRAC Fines

Two Atlantic provincial gaming corporations have been fined for failures involving suspicious-transaction reporting.

New Brunswick Lotteries and Gaming Corporation was fined $399,712.50, while Nova Scotia Gaming Corporation was fined $231,826.

FINTRAC said the organizations failed to submit suspicious-transaction reports when there were reasonable grounds for suspicion.

Officials in both provinces said there was no evidence of actual money laundering and that corrective measures have been taken.

🚤 Coast Guard Seasonal Stations Closing

The Canadian Coast Guard’s seasonal Inshore Rescue Boat stations across Atlantic Canada are scheduled to close at 11:59 p.m. Monday, September 7.

Stations include locations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland and Labrador.
