The liquor store in Uptown Saint John that reduced its operating hours

The liquor store in Uptown Saint John that reduced its operating hours is the NBLCC  location on Wellinton Row

According to local reports, the decision followed a fatal incident that occurred near the store. In response, ANBL temporarily shortened the store’s hours while staff and management assessed safety concerns and supported employees affected by the event. Police investigated the incident, and there was no indication that the liquor store itself was involved.

At this time, ANBL has indicated that the reduced hours are intended to help ensure staff safety and allow for operational adjustments following the tragedy. Local officials and business groups continue to monitor public safety issues in the Uptown area.

10 Wellington Row now closes at 7 p.m., two hours earlier than before.

Officers arrived just before 8 p.m., and found an unconscious 46-year old male and a conscious 44-year-old male.

Both men had sustained serious injuries and were taken to hospital. The 46-year-old was later pronounced dead, while the 44-year-old remained in hospital in serious condition.

A 36-year-old suspect, found at the scene with minor injuries, was immediately arrested. He later appeared in provincial court on March 10, where he was charged with one count of attempted second-degree murder.

Four Arrested in Saint John Drug Trafficking

Saint John Police Arrest Four on Drug Trafficking Charges

The Saint John Police Force has announced the arrest of four individuals following an investigation into suspected drug trafficking activity in the city. The arrests come after what authorities describe as a coordinated effort targeting the distribution of illegal substances within the community.

According to police, the investigation unfolded over several weeks and involved surveillance, intelligence gathering, and collaboration between multiple units. Officers executed search warrants at several locations, leading to the seizure of a quantity of suspected drugs, along with other items believed to be connected to trafficking operations. While officials have not publicly disclosed the exact types or amounts of substances involved, they indicated that the operation represents a significant disruption to local drug distribution networks.

All four individuals now face charges related to drug trafficking. They are expected to appear in court at a later date. Police have not released all details about the suspects, but confirmed that the investigation remains ongoing and additional charges could be laid as more information becomes available.

Authorities emphasized that efforts like this are part of a broader strategy to address the impact of illegal drugs on the community. Drug trafficking is often linked to other forms of crime, and police say removing these operations helps improve public safety and reduce harm.

The Saint John Police Force is encouraging anyone with information about drug-related activity to come forward. Community cooperation, they note, plays a crucial role in identifying and stopping illegal operations.

This case highlights the continued focus of law enforcement in tackling drug-related offenses and maintaining safety across Saint John.

B C mass shooting

Today we pause to reflect on the mass shooting that took place in British Columbia and the impact it has had on families, survivors, and the wider community.

Moments like this are a painful reminder of how violence can ripple far beyond a single location, touching friends, neighbors, and strangers alike. Our thoughts are with those who are grieving, those who are healing, and the first responders who stepped in to help.

In times like this, what matters most is coming together — checking in on one another, supporting local victims’ services, and honoring the resilience of communities that refuse to be defined by tragedy.
