The Gordie Howe International Bridge: Questions Canadians Deserve Answered

The Gordie Howe International Bridge was built with funding provided by Canada, with the expectation that the investment would be repaid through future toll revenues. It represents one of the largest infrastructure investments ever made by Canadian taxpayers.

Now, after months of delays and negotiations, U.S. President Donald Trump is celebrating a new agreement that helped clear the way for the bridge to open later this month. Reports indicate the deal includes changes to toll revenue sharing and other financial arrangements between Canada and the United States.

As a Canadian taxpayer, I have one simple question:

What did Canada have to give up to get this agreement signed?

If Canadians paid for the bridge, we deserve transparency about any concessions that were made during these negotiations. Whether it’s toll revenue, future profits, or other commitments, the public has a right to know.

I’m still waiting to hear our Prime Minister clearly explain:

  • What changed?
  • What was negotiated?

And why Canadians should consider this a good deal?

This isn’t about politics—it’s about accountability. When billions of taxpayer dollars are involved, Canadians deserve straight answers.
