Confirmed: Saint John Common Council is scheduled to meet tonight at 6 p.m. One public hearing concerns a proposed zoning change at 90 Douglas Avenue, which would allow the vacant former place of worship to be adaptively reused for accommodation. Confirmed: Beginning Tuesday, September 22, northbound Germain Street will be closed to through traffic between Princess Street and Grannan Street for three days, 24 hours a day, for infrastructure work. Businesses remain open.
Confirmed: The Department of Transportation has also scheduled Saint John Harbour Bridge traffic disruptions for Tuesday, September 22. Motorists should plan ahead and expect delays. Confirmed: Saint John Police’s ongoing School Zone Safety Program remains in effect for the 2026–27 school year, with continued enforcement and education around schools and bus routes.

Confirmed: Irving Oil’s major fall refinery turnaround remains underway at the Saint John refinery. The planned maintenance project is expected to continue into November and is bringing additional contractors and skilled workers to the city.
Confirmed: The Port is busy today with two cruise ships scheduled: Royal Caribbean’s Independence of the Seas, arriving about 10 a.m. and departing about 7:30 p.m., and Princess Cruises’ Sapphire Princess, scheduled for 8 a.m.–6 p.m.
