• Labour Day Parade: Water Street will experience a brief closure between 11 a.m. and noon. The actual interruption is expected to last about 15 minutes. The parade starts at Long Wharf and finishes at Area506.

Tomorrow, Sept. 8: Manchester Avenue near the Carle Avenue rail bridge will be reduced to alternating one-way traffic from 9 a.m.–6 p.m. for 3–4 days.

Tomorrow: Hawthorne Avenue and Arrow Walk Road will be closed to through traffic from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. for paving; local traffic will be permitted.

• The Saint John Police Force begins its Back-to-School Safety Campaign tomorrow, Sept. 8, continuing through Sept. 11. Traffic officers and the Quick Reaction Team will focus on school zones and bus routes.

Irving Oil’s $235-million Operation Osprey is getting underway at the Saint John refinery. The planned 75-day turnaround includes major infrastructure replacements, equipment upgrades and work on the residual fluid catalytic cracking unit. Irving says approximately 2,100 additional skilled workers from more than 55 contracting companies will be involved.
