Arrest in Break and Enter – Wright Street

The Saint John Police have arrested a 46-year-old man following a residential break and enter.

It is reported that:

On Monday, April 08, 2024, at approximately 12:37 a.m., police responded to a report of a man breaking into an apartment in the 70-block of Wright Street.

It was alleged that the suspect had gained access to the residence by breaking the knob off the front door.

Police quickly responded and surrounded the location. A 46-year-old man was taken into custody at the scene after being located by police hiding in a bed under the blankets.

Details in relation to the break and enter are still under investigation. However, the accused was charged with being at large while on a release order.

The accused was held in custody and scheduled to appear on court on Monday, April 08, 2024.

Seatbelt Campaign

The Saint John Police will once again be conducting a Seatbelt Campaign between April 08th – 12th, 2024. The campaign will focus on educating the public about the dangers associated with driving without properly wearing a seatbelt and on the enforcement of seatbelt legislation.

2 Impaired Drivers Arrested During Long Weekend March 29 – April 01, 2024

On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at approximately 7:33 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to a report of a vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection in the 200-block of Rothesay Avenue. A 28-year-old woman was arrested for impaired driving. She was later released from custody to appear in court on a later date.

On Saturday, March 30, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a member of the Saint John Police Force Patrol Services Division observed a vehicle driving with no lights on. The vehicle was seen travelling east on Fairville Blvd and a traffic stop was initiated. A 49-year-old man was found operating the motor vehicle. A roadside sobriety test was conducted. As a result of the test his license was suspended for 7 days.

On Monday, April 01, 2024, at approximately 2:58 a.m., the Saint John Police Force responded vehicle pulled over on the side of Highway 1 near exit 119. Police quickly arrived on scene and took a 40-year-old woman into custody for impaired driving. She was later released from custody to appear in court on a later date.

The Saint John Police Force would like to remind the public that operating a motor vehicle while impaired is dangerous. It is essential to prioritize safety and make responsible choices to protect yourself and others on the road. Public Safety Alert – Personation of a Peace Officer

The Saint John Police Force is investigating a suspicious vehicle that was seen with a set of red and blue lights displayed in the windshield.

It is alleged that:

On Friday, March 29, 2024, at approximately 8:45 a.m., the complainant was driving in the area of Catherwood Street and Ready Street in Saint John. They observed a vehicle with flashing red and blue lights in the windshield parked on the side of the road. The vehicle was described as an unmarked older model, Dark Green van, possibly a Ford Windstar.

There were two men in the vehicle. The male in the front passenger’s seat was manipulating the light in the windshield.

The occupants of the vehicle are unknown and there are no further descriptions at this time. Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video of the incident at the time it occurred.

The Saint John Police reminds the public that our members are dressed in full uniform with a visible name tag worn on their uniform shirt, exterior vest and/or jacket. Officers working in plain clothes will identify themselves and be in possession of a badge and police identification. If something seems suspicious, please call 506-648-3333, or 911 in an emergency.

Sudden Death Investigation – Paradise Row

The Saint John Police, in cooperation with the Saint John Fire Department and Coroner’s Office, are investigating a tent fire that led to the death of two unidentified individuals.

It is reported that:

On Monday, March 25, 2024, at approximately 3:41 p.m., emergency crews responded to a fire at a tent near the 100-block of Paradise Row.

After the fire was extinguished, two individuals were located deceased.
The Saint John Police Major Crime, Forensic Services and Coroner’s Office were called to the scene to investigate.

Officers are working on establishing the identity of the deceased parties in order to notify next of kin.

The Saint John Police and Saint John Fire Department continue to investigate the cause of the fire. Further details will be released as the investigation permits.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that has video footage or surveillance before, during, or after the fire occurred.
