Arrests made for dangerous driving and weapons offences

The Saint John Police have arrested two men following a dangerous driving incident in East Saint John.

It is reported that:

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., an off-duty officer observed a car driving at high speeds and dangerously eastbound on Highway 1. A caller also reported that the passenger waved a machete at them.

The vehicle turned into a parking lot near Mcallister Drive and Westmorland Road where police took two men into custody.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a machete.

The 24-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving, impaired driving, and an outstanding committal warrant. He was transported to jail and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, June 04, 2024.

The 26-year-old passenger was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He was held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, March 25, 2024.

Police seek public assistance in break and enter investigation – Red Head Road

The Saint John Police are seeking the public’s assistance in connection with a break and enter investigation.

It is alleged that:

On March 19, 2024, at approximately 02:10 p.m., suspects broke into a convenience store in the 1100-block of Red Head Road stealing both currency and product. An intrusion alarm was activated, and the suspects left in a light-colored vehicle. Significant damage was caused to the business.

Officers responded to the scene, but the suspects were not located.

(ARRESTED) Stabbing Investigation – Union Street / Waterloo Street Area

On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, at approximately 12:55 p.m., as a result of an ongoing investigation, police located and arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the stabbing incident.

On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, the accused appeared in court charged with aggravated assault. He was held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Thursday, March 21, 2024, for a bail hearing.

It is reported that:

On Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 3:14 p.m., the Saint John Police responded to a report of a stabbing in the area of Union Street and Waterloo Street.

Officers arrived on scene and located a 43-year-old man who had sustained serious injuries. He was transported to the Regional Hospital for treatment and has been released.

The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Services were called to investigate. Detectives believe that this is an isolated incident.

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area of Union Street and Waterloo Street that has dash-cam or video surveillance of the incident at the time it occurred.
