⚾ BLUE JAYS UPDATE — AUGUST 19, 2026

Jays Blast Rays 10–5 and Take Series Opener

The Toronto Blue Jays came out swinging Tuesday night, pounding the Tampa Bay Rays 10–5 at Tropicana Field.

Toronto collected 17 hits, its second-highest total in a game this season, and grabbed a 1–0 lead in the three-game series.

🔥 Offense Comes Alive

Alejandro Kirk led the attack with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.

George Springer and Ernie Clement also had three hits each, while Kazuma Okamoto and Josh Smith added home runs.

The Jays’ offensive explosion was especially important against a Tampa Bay club that owns one of baseball’s best records.

📊 AL East Picture

Toronto enters Wednesday at 62–65, sitting fourth in the AL East.

Tampa Bay is 75–50 and leads the division.

The Jays still have work to do in the Wild Card race, but their recent surge has kept their postseason hopes alive.

🏥 Vlad Guerrero Jr. Update

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. remains on the seven-day concussion injured list following the scary collision with George Lombard Jr. during Toronto’s August 14 game against the Yankees.

His estimated return date is August 22, but his actual return will depend on his recovery and clearance through the concussion protocol.
