What Makes It Special

  • Small-ship experience: With only ~210 passengers, the atmosphere is much more intimate compared to mega‐cruise-ships. If you prefer fewer crowds, more personalized service, this is a plus.

  • All-balcony staterooms: Every room has a private balcony (or at least sliding glass doors & balcony) on this ship.

  • Destinations & flexibility: Because of its smaller size, Pearl Mist can visit ports larger ships can’t — e.g., segments of the Great Lakes, Georgian Bay, St. Lawrence Seaway, Canadian/US‐East-Coast itineraries.

  • Recent refurbish: In ’23 the ship underwent a major interior redesign (new furnishings, fresh palettes, regionally inspired artwork) to elevate the experience.

Onboard Amenities & Accommodation

  • The ship boasts spacious staterooms for its size, with full‐sized bathrooms, modern tech (flat screen TV/DVD), WiFi.

  • Lounges: There are multiple lounges (quiet library, social Atlantic Lounge, etc.), open sun decks, observation areas.

  • Dining: There is a glass-enclosed dining room offering panoramic views.

  • Exercise/Outdoor areas: Open‐air exercise area, fitness zone, observation decks.

Itineraries / Where It Sails

  • The ship’s typical itineraries include 7 to 15 nights around the Great Lakes & Georgian Bay, St. Lawrence Seaway, Canadian Maritimes & New England.

  • Example: In 2025 the 14-night “Great Lakes Explorer” sails all five Great Lakes.

  • Homeport arrangements: e.g., Milwaukee, Wisconsin hosts turnaround operations.

Things to Consider (Potential Drawbacks)

  • Because it’s a smaller ship, there are fewer “big‐ship” amenities (e.g., large water parks, Broadway shows, dozens of restaurants) that you might find on mega cruise ships.

  • Pricing: Smaller luxury ships often cost more per night than mass-market lines. (Reddit users noted high per-person rates on Great Lakes cruises).

  • Port access: Even though it visits great places, some of the itineraries may require travel to/from smaller or less frequent departure ports.

  • Age & infrastructure: The ship is now >10 years in service and while refurbished, some might find the “small ship” luxury more subdued compared to ultra-luxury ocean liners.

Who Is It Ideal For?

  • Travellers who value quiet luxury, smaller group size, personalized service.

  • People who want to cruise in the Great Lakes / Canadian East Coast / St. Lawrence Seaway rather than full ocean‐crossings.

  • Those who like scenic, nature/heritage‐rich destinations rather than purely beach/big resort ports.

  • People who appreciate private balcony in every room (rare on many ships).
