Arrest in Multiple Theft Investigations

The Saint John Police has arrested a 38-year-old man for multiple theft and fail to appear investigations.

It is reported that:

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, an off-duty Saint John Police Officer recognized a 38-year-old man in the 700-block of Manawagonish Road.

The man was wanted for several outstanding charges including Theft, Fail to Appear and Assault PO. While the member maintained visual on the suspect, he contacted other on-duty officers to make their way to the area.

While waiting for additional police officers to arrive the suspect spotted the off-duty member and attempted to flee. A brief struggle ensued, and the suspect was taken into custody with the assistance of additional officers who arrived on scene.

He was held in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday, May 31, 2024.

Arrest in Robbery Investigation – Lansdowne Ave

The Saint John Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with a robbery investigation.

It is alleged that:

On Monday, May 27, 2024, at approximately 8:15 p.m., a 71-year-old man was leaving a business located in the 80-block of Lansdowne Ave when he was pushed to the ground from behind.

A struggle ensued and the suspect was able to take money from the victim’s pocket before fleeing the scene.

Police were called to the scene, but the suspect was not located. The man was treated at scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

The Major Crime Unit and Forensic Services were called to investigate.

On Tuesday, May 28, 2024, an undercover officer spotted the suspect at a business on the west side. With the assistance of members from Patrol Services, a 27-year-old man was arrested for robbery, assault PO, obstruction, and fail to comply with an undertaking. He was held in custody to appear in court on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.
