Arrests made for dangerous driving and weapons offences

The Saint John Police have arrested two men following a dangerous driving incident in East Saint John.

It is reported that:

On Thursday, March 21, 2024, at approximately 7:00 p.m., an off-duty officer observed a car driving at high speeds and dangerously eastbound on Highway 1. A caller also reported that the passenger waved a machete at them.

The vehicle turned into a parking lot near Mcallister Drive and Westmorland Road where police took two men into custody.

A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a machete.

The 24-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving, impaired driving, and an outstanding committal warrant. He was transported to jail and is scheduled to return to court on Tuesday, June 04, 2024.

The 26-year-old passenger was arrested for possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and breach of probation. He was held in custody and is scheduled to return to court on Monday, March 25, 2024.
