✨ A Wish for Peace – December 23 ✨

🌍✨ A Wish for Peace – December 23 ✨🌍

On this day, December 23, I send out a heartfelt wish for peace in the world. May kindness unite us, understanding guide us, and love heal every wound.

As we stand together as one global family, let’s remember that every small act of compassion creates ripples of hope. Let peace begin with each of us, today and every day.

Festivus Day

Festivus is a fictional holiday that originated from the American TV show Seinfeld. It was introduced in the 1997 episode “The Strike” as a humorous, secular alternative to Christmas. The holiday takes place on December 23 and includes quirky traditions like:

  • The Festivus Pole: A plain aluminum pole instead of a Christmas tree, symbolizing the rejection of holiday commercialism.
  • The Airing of Grievances: A time to tell family and friends how they’ve disappointed you over the past year.
  • Feats of Strength: A wrestling challenge to conclude the holiday celebrations.
  • Festivus Miracles: Everyday, somewhat mundane occurrences that are humorously labeled as “miracles.”

In Canada, Festivus is not an official holiday, but fans of Seinfeld and pop culture may celebrate it in a lighthearted way, often as a joke or a fun gathering with friends. It has also become a symbol for people seeking an alternative or less traditional way to celebrate during the holiday season. Some workplaces and social groups in Canada may even host Festivus-themed parties!

Saint John, a fresh blanket of snow

As Saint John, New Brunswick, awakens under a fresh blanket of snow, the city transforms into a picturesque winter wonderland. The recent storm, delivering approximately 14 centimeters of snow accompanied by gusty winds, has painted our streets and parks in pristine white.

While the snowfall brings a serene beauty, it also presents challenges. Roads are snow-covered, and visibility is reduced in some areas due to drifting snow. Residents are advised to exercise caution during travel and consider postponing non-essential journeys until conditions improve.

Despite these challenges, the community’s resilience shines through. Neighbors are seen helping each other clear driveways, and the sound of snowblowers fills the air. The local authorities are working diligently to restore normalcy, ensuring that the festive spirit remains undampened.

As we navigate the aftermath of this pre-Christmas storm, let’s embrace the beauty it brings and the sense of togetherness it fosters. Stay safe, stay warm, and enjoy the winter magic that has enveloped our city.
