(Update) Sudden death investigation Lancaster Ave

An arrest has been made as a result of an ongoing investigation by the Saint John Police Major Crime Unit. 

On January 02, 2025, a 26-year-old man was taken into custody for murder. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in court on January 03, 2024. 

Police have confirmed that the victim and accused were known to each other. 

The Saint John Police would like to thank the public for their tips during this investigation as well as members of the Kennebecasis Regional Police Force for their assistance in this investigation.

The Saint John Police are seeking information in relation to a sudden death investigation.  

It is reported that: 

On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, at approximately 4:10 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the call of an unconscious individual laying on the road in the 600-block area of Lancaster Ave. 

The victim, identified as Nicsy Arboleda Rodriguez, is a 30-year-old resident of Saint John, who was discovered on the ground severely injured. Emergency first aid was rendered at the scene, and she was transported to hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Forensic Services and Major Crime were called to investigate. 

An autopsy will be scheduled to determine the cause of death.  

Investigators are appealing for witnesses or anyone in the area that video footage of the incident at the time it occurred.
